Former Pro & Collegiate Basketball Player Ron Baker Shares His Leadership Lessons

Born in Hays, Kansas, Ronald (Ron) Baker spent his early childhood in the tiny farming town of Utica, Kansas, growing up with one younger sister (Audrey) and one younger brother (Sloan).

The parents of Ron are Neil and Ranae. Neil, his father played college baseball at Fort Hays State (Hays, KS). Ranae, his mother played multiple sports at St. Mary’s On The Plains (Dodge City, KS).

Baseball has always been a love in the Baker household. In 2004 Ron and his family moved to Scott City, Kansas. Him and his siblings went to high school at Scott Community High. Both his parents still reside in Scott City.

After high school Ron attended Wichita State where he played basketball. During his four-year career WSU reached one Final Four in 2013, an undefeated regular season in 2014 and a Sweet Sixteen in 2015.

After college Ron played two and a half seasons in the NBA. Majority of his NBA career was spent with the New York Knicks. Ron played his final professional season (2019-20) over seas for CSKA Moscow in Russia.

He currently resides in Wichita, KS and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
